outgoing board members.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER- Rogers Weed-Director, Washington State Department of Commerce
Rogers Weed was appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire as
Director of the Department of Commerce in March 2009. In appointing him to this agency cabinet position, Gov. Gregoire said Rogers is a proven leader and innovator. As director, Rogers works to fulfill the governor’s clear mission to retain the jobs and companies that we have in our state today and attract new ones. His focus will be on forging effective partnerships with the business community, with other agencies in the
public sector and with the legislature.
“Washington is a product that must compete every day to retain and grow the businesses and jobs we have now and attract new ones. Sustaining a world-class innovation economy on a foundation of strong communities requires that we make continuous improvements and focus on fundamentals – infrastructure, education and workforce training, and regulatory
efficiency. With our eye on these and a handful of more specific priorities, we will achieve global competitiveness for our businesses and more and better jobs for all the state’s citizens.” — Rogers Weed, Director, Department of Commerce

WinterFest seeking vendors!
Benton City’s sixth annual WinterFest offers holiday fun and entertainment for the whole family. This
year’s event will be held at the newly renovated Kiona-Benton High School, 1205 Horne Road. The move will provide better space for vendors plus access to the new Performing Arts Center for additional activities.
This event is one of the largest community-based craft shows in the area, with up to 50 vendors displaying and selling a variety of items in past years and room for more this year. While the show boasts about 80 percent handcrafted arts and crafts, specialty foods and products from favorite companies such as Discovery Toys, Jewels by Park Lane, and Tupperware are also welcome. Applications are still being accepted for vendors. Prices range from $15 to $30 per space depending on size and amenities.
